Sock Monster
2019 | object
Sock Monster was developed during the design in residence (DIR) program at ArtEZ in 2019. The object was presented during Fashionclash Festival as part of Clash Project.
Sock Monster is a performative character. It’s a driving washing machine
with a small skelter inside. The monster has two sidepanels that can
unfold into a drying rack filled with single socks. The monster is originally
made for Fashionclash Festival in 2019. A fashionshow where designers
show their work live on the cat-walk.
Sock Monster was born from the idea that pairs of socks get lost in the
laundry. This mystery of loosing pairs leaves single socks. Sock Monster
is humoristic answer to this phenomenon and can be seen as a
money launderer of single socks.
